Immersive sound and binaural mixing
Immersive sound refers to an audio technology that reproduces the way in which the human ear perceives acoustic waves, i.e. in three dimensions.
For soundBreathing, we chose the binaural mixing technique to reproduce the natural perception of sound and create a feeling of thorough immersion.
Binaural listening is done through providing slightly different input to the right and left ear, inducing the brain into spatialising the sound as a psychoacoustic effect, thus it can only be experienced through headphones.
The sounds are generated in 3D, giving the user a totally immersive experience by creating a 360° soundstage.
This technique also makes it possible to listen to films in Dolby Atmos, the sound system used in cinemas, reproducing a listening experience with more than a dozen speakers placed around the listener, comprising up to 128 audio channels! (Stereo, traditional listening, has only 2).
